OK. The dreaded D-Day will be arriving in 2-3 days! What’s D-Day? DIET Day!
Both Himself and I are entirely too heavy. Neither of us is able at this point to exercise appropriately. We are hoping that weight loss will enable us to begin to exercise more and thus take off more weight as we exercise. Does that make sense?
SOOOoooo – we decided (actually I decided) that Nutrisystem will provide us with the kind of diet we can follow and will stick to. It costs a bit more for each of us than we usually spend on a month for both of us, BUT, if it works, it will be worth it. For those who are tempted to comment that this or that diet is better / faster / healthier, please don’t. I’m quite capable of making these decisions. I have to take our respective health problems and disabilities into consideration, and also how we can manage. As a nurse will a strong interest in nutrition, I’m able to determine if a particular diet is good or bad for us. Also, as Himself currently does most of the cooking, I have to take into consideration his attitude: “I don’t want to know about it. Just put the food in front of me!” He hates milkshakes, puddings and snack bars, and told me he wouldn’t consider using them. That eliminated several diets. It also eliminated WW. He won’t go, and he won’t listen if I try to tell him what the latest meeting has to say. So save your energy. Just go with the flow on this.
We are going to give it 3 months. That should provide the information we need to decide whether to continue to use it. Of course, Himself will lose more and more quickly than I will – he’s testosterone and I’m estrogen, makes a huge difference in how we metabolize. Also, there will be days and perhaps weeks at a time that I will not be able to exercise if I’m flaring badly from either/both my RA, my fibro.
So, I will start blogging about our success or failure on the Nutrisystem. I will NOT record here what our current weights are, but I WILL record the amount of weight we lose.
Please keep us in your prayers as we begin this attempt. He needs to lose about 50-75#. I need to lose 100-125#. YIKES!!
