First they came for the Communists,

and I didn’t speak up,

because I wasn’t a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews,

and I didn’t speak up,

because I wasn’t a Jew.

Then they came for the Catholics,

and I didn’t speak up,

because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me,

and by that time there was no one

left to speak up for me.

Connecticut has an act before their state legislature that would essentially require that the Roman Catholic Church become congregationalist rather than hierarchical.

This is an unprecedented interference by a state into the churches. It matters not whether you are Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, Jew, Buddhist, Hindu, or Moslem. This act essentially makes all parishes, all local and regional religious groups into congregation-ruled organizations.

This is an attack on religion by the state of Connecticut regardless of the First Amendment of the Constitution.

The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property (www.tfp.org) is calling on all Americans to repudiate and protest Connecticut’s SB 1098 and to be vigilant against similar measures in other states.

All Americans must stand with the Roman Catholic Church against this kind of incursion. Otherwise, who will be left when they come for you??
